Reflections on Political Ponerology -- Signs of the Times News: "http://www.sott.net/articles/show/213382-Reflections-on-Political-Ponerology" This is quite relevant to the theme of Loki (and Odin of course) particularly to the discussion of their personalities in the below-referenced essay by Sam Urfer: "Odin and Loki: A Tale of Two Tricksters".
While I repudiate the allegation that any of my Gods can be lightly dismissed as "psychopaths" pace Sam, I do feel that the description in this sott.net essay fits Odin as the archetype of the strong, cunning leader and authority figure best. (Though I think it might also be instructive to ask how many authority figures think they are doing their best for everybody?- probably a lot!
